Just a quick note to say go and watch Pirates of the Caribbean 2. The lead character – played by Bill Nighy’s – is in fact completely computer generated. I thought it was just very good makeup with some CG enhancements when I was watching it. There is more general information about the vfx in this Post magazine article.

If SuperMan Returns is more your kind of movie, vfxworld has a huge article (Part 1 and Part 2 - registration required, but really worth it), CgSociety also has an article focussing mainly on Sony’s work. And XSIbase has an article about the Pre visualisation of SuperMan.

Also there is an interesting read about how DNA Productions used GridEngine to power their Render Farm for the forthcoming movie Ant Bully.
